What do you do when they don’t believe it’s ADHD?- Article Link
This is a great article, ADHD -when they don’t believe it’s real found at www.hackrack.org which is a blog written about various ADHD related topics.
I actually had this similar idea in my list of ‘topics to write a blog about one day when I have time’. There is definitely a balance between educating others about ADHD and how it impacts those who have it and those who live with, are married to and parent those who have it, and feeling the need to justify an ADHD diagnosis as the potential explanation for what is going on. This article is a great reminder that sometimes we just need to realize that we don’t have to ‘convince’ others of what we know about our children and ADHD or ourselves and ADHD. We can share what we know and after that we just have to let it go and accept that as long as their opinion isn’t causing damage to ourselves and our children it’s not worth the battle and convincing another person it’s ‘true’ won’t change what is.
How do you handle this situation when you talk about ADHD and feel you are continually defending your position?
